Miniature horses are just one of the most unique and special breeds of horses which exist today. One horse can easily be kept in the average residential backyard, depending on local zoning regulations. A miniature horse is cheaper to buy, about 1/10 the cost of maintaining a full sized horse, and comes in many colors and patterns. The horses have been shown successfully by youth and amateur exhibitors as well as with highly competitive professional handlers. Miniature Horses are shown in most of the same show classes that are found in the full size breeds with the exception of the riding classes which are replaced with driving classes. Most people do not realize you can do anything with a miniature horse that you can with a big horse except ride. With their eager dispositions, miniature horses prove extremely friendly and interact well with people of all ages. Miniature horses are a specific breed and are not the same as a pony, which are larger.
